For the benefit of those of you who are new to the site (in other words, everyone!), I thought I would explain the concept of The Corner Store.  You may not have clicked on the Corner Store link because you weren’t in the market to buy anything, but the store offers so much more than an opportunity to purchase books!  The real purpose of the Corner Store is to provide my readers with a multitude of book recommendations, all arranged by grade level and topic.  Once on the store page, you will see a menu to the right that invites you to “Browse by Category”.  Listed here are all elementary grade levels from kindergarten to fifth grade.  If you choose a grade level, you won’t see a list of books–don’t panic; just choose one of the many topics listed underneath the grade level heading in the menu and you will find yourself with a bevy of suggestions.  The topics that I have listed in these menus are all ones that I discuss in The Tibrarian Handbook, but the book lists are greatly expanded from the ones listed in my book.  I have read all of the books that I recommend in the store and I will continue adding more as quickly as I can read them!  Once inside the store, you can of course choose to purchase the books through Amazon.

If anyone has any requests for topics that you would like me to add to the Corner Store, please comment on this post and I will see what I can do!
